Stealey Community Fund Donates $451K To Tyler County Projects
Trending
Tyler County community projects were the recipient of a total of more than $451,000 on Tuesday, as the Stealey Community Fund, administered through the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley, bolstered 16 projects throughout the county, with a special emphasis on Middlebourne. This year’s grants totaled $451,593.60.
Ruth Stealey Green, a retired teacher and the fund's founder, established the Stealey Community Fund in honor of herself and her brother, Philip Stealey. She stipulated that projects supported by the fund must benefit the Middlebourne-area community. Special consideration is given to programs and projects that improve the quality of life for residents through enhanced library services, recreational opportunities, municipal improvements, youth services, and other community needs. An advisory committee reviews submitted applications and makes award recommendations to CFOV.
Since its creation more than 20 years ago, the Stealey Community Fund has awarded more than $3.4 million in grants to support projects and programs that strengthen the community and improve quality of life throughout Tyler County.
Projects funded through this year's grant cycle will support food security efforts, youth recreation and athletics, educational opportunities, community programming, public facilities, senior services, and library resources, continuing the Stealey family's legacy of positive impact in Middlebourne and across Tyler County.
