She was born in Benwood on June 18, 1928 to Walter and Victoria Jawor who emigrated to the U.S. from Poland to ensure a better life for their children and future generations. Ann graduated from Union High School in 1946 and married Andy Chavanak in 1948. They were married for 49 years before his passing.
