Artworks’ September Exhibit to Feature Talents of Pittsburgh Pastel Artists League

WHEELING — Artworks Around Town is honored to welcome the Pittsburgh Pastel Artists League as guest exhibitors for the month of September.
Pure Color 2025 is the title of the show which begins with an opening reception at 5:30 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 5. The party is free and open to the public.
The Pittsburgh Pastel Artists League was formed in 2002 and today has approximately 60 members. According to their website, “The group is a solely member supported art organization and is dedicated to the promotion, use, understanding and enjoyment of the medium of soft pastels and to pastel artists.”
Membership is made up of artists of all skill levels and is open to anyone interested in the pastel medium.
Pure Color 2025 will contain paintings never before seen by the public. Twenty-one members will bring 61 works to the North Gallery.
Some of the artists have shown internationally as well as in the United States.
Eric Dye, local member of the Pittsburgh Pastel Artist League, has been organizing the event. The show will be judged by Kevin Clancey of Oglebay Institute’s Stifel Fine Arts Center. Awards will be given for first, second, third, honorable mention and a special one in memory of Patricia Mae Young, a beloved member of PPAL who passed away in January of this year.
The paintings will be for sale. Awards will be announced at 6 p.m. at the opening reception tonight.
Artworks Around Town is a nonprofit fine arts organization dedicated to promoting cultural opportunities for artists and the community.
The Gallery is open six days a week Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
