Murder Suspect Is Among 26 Indicted by Brooke County Grand Jury

HARLEY GILL

A Wellsville man accused of the fatal shooting of a 40-year-old Colliers man has been indicted for murder and charges stemming from his allegedly firing in the direction of three other people on the same night.

Harley Allen Wayne Gill, 27, was one of 26 indicted by a Brooke County grand jury on Monday.

Gill was indicted on one count of murder in connection with the death of Charles Jule Suter, at Suter’s home on Feb. 11.

He also has been indicted on three counts of wanton endangerment for allegedly using a pistol to fire shots over the heads of three people at Suter’s Shreves Lane home after Suter was shot; and on counts of attempted burglary and being a person prohibited from possessing a firearm.

According to the indictment, Gill was banned from carrying a firearm following his conviction for possessing a controlled substance in Hancock County last year.

The attempted burglary charge stems from Gill’s alleged attempt to force open Suter’s door, which led someone there to open it.

Since his arrest by the Brooke County Sheriff’s Department, Gill has been held without bond in the Northern Regional Jail.

He is slated to appear, with others indicted by the grand jury, for a hearing on Monday.

Starting at $2.99/week.
