Jack Crow Sworn In as Newest Hancock County Board of Education Member

Jack Crow is sworn in as the newest member of the Hancock County Board of Education prior to Monday’s board meeting. Crow was appointed to the board during a special meeting April 4, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of Gerard Spencer.
The Hancock County Board of Education welcomed its newest member Monday, swearing in Jack Crow to fill the fifth seat on the board.
Crow was appointed April 4 to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Gerard Spencer, who stepped down from the post after being hired as the new Hancock County Schools coordinator of safety services.
A resident of Weirton who will represent the Butler District on the board, Crow is a 2005 graduate of Weir High School and a 2010 graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Crow’s mother was a teacher in Hancock County for 40 years, and his sister currently teaches at Weirton Elementary School.
“This is important to me and my family,” Crow said. We grew up with the education system.”
He said he believes in the importance of education, and providing the best opportunities they can for the students in the school system, focusing on the availability of quality classes to best prepare them for the future while also ensuring there is support for social, athletic and community-minded programs, whether it be football or a chess program.
“I think we should put our efforts into it,” he said.
Crow is a technical sales representative for Total Energies, and previously worked as a landman for Chesapeake Energy.
In other business Monday, the board:
– Went into a 20-minute executive session, after which they placed Nancy D’Angelo, Stephanie Fidak, Alissa Hitt, John DiPasquale, and Fred Hannahs on the reduction-in-force list, terminating their employment at the end of the school year and placing them on a preferred recall list; while placing Brooke Provenzano, Christopher Pugh, and Tiffany Warner on the transfer list for reassignment in the 2025-26 school year;
– Approved the Oak Glen Middle School Archery Team’s request to travel to Louisville, Ky., May 7-9 for the U.S. Eastern National Archery Championships;
– Approved numerous contract renewals, transfers and other personnel moves;
– Named Pugh as an assistant football coach at Weir High.
