There will be one new -- and young -- face on the Wetzel County Board of Education, as Devon Tennant defeated incumbent Christine Nice on Tuesday in their election in Wetzel County. Tennant upended Nice 1,044-813. A 2023 graduate of Magnolia High School, Tennant is a student at Bethany College who also serves as an assistant funeral director in Hundred. He will join two other incumbents, who returned to their seats in Tuesday's election. Jeff Davis captured a seat on the Tyler County Commission, defeating Steven Weigle on Tuesday in the Republican primary. There was no Democratic candidate, so Davis will advance. Davis, a lifelong Tyler County resident, recently retired as treasurer and chief school business officer for the Tyler County Board of Education. His previous roles included Chief Financial Officer at Sistersville General Hospital and Operations Officer at Union Bank in Sistersville. All three levies on the ballot in Tyler County passed. WELLSBURG — Incumbent Brooke County Commissioner Stacey "Hukill" Wise is on her way to another term. Wise, a Follansbee resident, defeated Kevin Himmelrick in Tuesday's Republican primary. She received 601 votes, while Himmelrick collected 564 votes, according to unofficial results from the Brooke County Board of Elections. NEW CUMBERLAND — Change is guaranteed on the Hancock County Commission after Tuesday's primary voting. Ronnie Jones, the former Weirton councilman and state delegate, defeated incumbent Commissioner Eron Chek in the Republican primary. According to unofficial results from the Hancock County Board of Elections, Jones collected 1,779 votes, while Chek finished with 489 votes.
