James “Jim” “Mac” Andrew McGlumphy, 75, of Wheeling, passed away Thursday October 5, 2023 at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. He was born May 20, 1948, in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Julian (Mac) and Anna (Baker) McGlumphy. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, a Member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 12830, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was awarded the Bishop’s Cross in 2015. He was born November 26, 1934, in Wetzel County, son of the late Percy Dorman and Donah (Hayes) Talkington. Bill was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. John David Palimetakis, 93, of New Bern, NC, died Monday, October 2, 2023. He was born April 30, 1930 in Windsor Heights, WV, son of the late John and Julia Palimetakis. John was a 1948 graduate of Wheeling High School. In the same year, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served for four years in the Aleutian Islands.
