Along Market Street in Wheeling, one of the area’s largest accounting firms has opened a new office after a recent merger.

Perry and Associates CPAs will offer its variety of specialties, including accounting, consulting and tax services, from the 1310 Market St. office inside the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce building. Thaddeus Obecny, a principal with the company, formerly of Obecny and Company PLLC, said the downtown Wheeling office appears to be an opportunity to grow the firm, which has been in business for more than 40 years.

According to Obecny, combining his business with Perry and Associates has resulted in a staff of more than 60 with more than 1,000 years of experience between them. Obecny said this may present the company more opportunities to work with larger clients or handle larger jobs.

Perry and Associates also has offices in St. Clairsville, Marietta, Ohio and Vienna, W.Va.

Jeff Sandy, a retired special agent with the U.S. Treasury Department, leads the company’s forensic auditing office, which holds expertise in money laundering, terrorism financing, financial crimes and tracing hidden assets.

Aside from this, Perry and Associates also offers audits to construction companies, nonprofit organizations and government entities.
