Incumbents Defend Seats on Marshall Board of Education

MOUNDSVILLE — Two members of the Marshall County Board of Education successfully defended their seats against a slew of hopefuls Tuesday night.

Board President John Miller won out in the District 3 election against Adam Truex, with Miller receiving 3,703 votes against Truex’s 2,858.

Miller has served on the board for eight years, first elected in 2012 after 40 years spent teaching in the county.

The District 1 race was won by incumbent Lori Kestner in a more tightly contested race, fending off Cameron High School Principal Jack Cain by just over 200 votes, taking 3,094 votes against Cain’s 2,718. Timothy Reilly also sought the seat, taking 1,134 votes.

Kestner has served on the Board of Education for 16 years, first elected in 2004, running as a mother who sought to increase the availability of resources to parents and students.

Board members were not present at the Marshall County Courthouse to observe the election results Tuesday.

Starting at $2.99/week.
