NEW CUMBERLAND — Change is guaranteed on the Hancock County Commission after Tuesday's primary voting. Ronnie Jones, the former Weirton councilman and state delegate, defeated incumbent Commissioner Eron Chek in the Republican primary. According to unofficial results from the Hancock County Board of Elections, Jones collected 1,779 votes, while Chek finished with 489 votes. Jeff Davis captured a seat on the Tyler County Commission, defeating Steven Weigle on Tuesday in the Republican primary. There was no Democratic candidate, so Davis will advance. Davis, a lifelong Tyler County resident, recently retired as treasurer and chief school business officer for the Tyler County Board of Education.
