NEW CUMBERLAND — Three new members will join the Hancock County Board of Education in July, shortly after the board has been stripped of much of its authority by the state. According to unofficial results Tuesday night, Tiffany Gale of Weirton, Melissa Bane of Weirton and Jeff Woofter of New Cumberland are set to take their seats at the beginning of the district’s fiscal year July 1. The West Virginia House of Delegates will have a new member in its next session, as Doddridge County resident Steven Smith defeated incumbent Del. Bill Bell in the Republican primary Tuesday night. There was no Democratic nominee for that seat, so Smith will advance to the House. Two Reelected, One New Face For Marshall County Board of Education

MOUNDSVILLE – Marshall County residents voted Tuesday to reelect two incumbents to the board of education along with a new face. According to unofficial vote totals, incumbent board member Duane Miller was reelected, receiving 2,341 votes, along with incumbent board member Christie Robison, who received 2,364 votes. Newcomer David Robbins also won a seat, receiving 2,578 votes. Other candidates who were not elected included David Evans, who received 1,639 votes and Levi Carney, who received 864 votes.
