Boso Seeks to Unseat Incumbent DeWitt on Moundsville City Council
MOUNDSVILLE – The 4th Ward seat on Moundsville’s city council, which has been held for years by Ginger DeWitt, is being contested by Carl Boso.
DeWitt said she’s served on council for about 13 years, during which time she’s proud to have helped contribute to numerous improvements and major projects for the city – most recently the new municipal building, which broke ground over the summer.
“The paving of the streets, the building of the new city building, the upgrades to parks and recreation, and being able to help the citizens,” DeWitt said of which accomplishments she was most proud of.
Looking ahead, DeWitt said she would someday like to see Moundsville be able to introduce a full recreational complex for the county’s youth.
“I would love to see us eventually build a recreation center for the quality of life for the youth of Moundsville.”
DeWitt said she took particular pride in representing the citizens of the 4th Ward, where she’s lived for most of her life.
Boso said he’d seek to represent the will of the people on council, rather than the council’s interests.
“I want to see … someone get on there and do what the people want, not what they decide they want to do,” Boso said. “The council (members) are elected by the people, and they don’t do what (the people) want.”
Boso operates Boso & Sons Towing, a job at which he’s worked for 50 years, he said. Boso had previously sought a seat on council in previous elections, including the 2016 election, where he lost by 10 votes, for which he demanded a recount. The hand count yielded no change in the election results, with Boso gaining five votes and his opponent, incumbent David Haynes, gaining three.
Boso is a familiar sight at city council meetings, where he regularly speaks at public comment to voice his opinions on members of council and their handling of municipal business.
